Regional Skills Relocation Grant: Attracting Skilled Employees to Boost Regional NSW Businesses

The Regional Skills Relocation Grant is a valuable opportunity for businesses operating in specific industries in regional NSW. Program Objective:

The primary objective of the Regional Skills Relocation Grant is threefold:

Eligibility:

To be eligible for this grant, businesses must operate within industries aligned with key NSW Government policies and strategies. These industries are considered pivotal for driving growth in regional economies and include “engine industries,” “emerging engine industries,” and “enabling industries.”

Eligible businesses must be

1. Operating as a private business or cooperative.
2. Relocating to or setting up in regional NSW, creating at least five new ongoing full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs, or already operating in regional NSW and seeking to recruit eligible employees.

Eligible Employees:

The grant supports skilled workers relocating to regional NSW from metropolitan areas within the state or from locations outside NSW. To be eligible, these skilled workers must:
1. Relocate to a residence at least 50 kilometers from their original residence within the same Functional Economic Region as the eligible business, or within 100 kilometers of the eligible business.
2. Be Australian citizens or permanent residents at the start of their employment.
3. Have an occupation listed on the Commonwealth Skilled Occupation List for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491 and 489). The list is tailored to meet the needs of regional Australia, and additional occupations may be considered based on demonstrated need.
